The Damansara Utama Lutheran Church or DULC is a family and community church in one of the suburbs of Klang Valley, Damansara Utama. It is one of the few churches here that provide the sanctuary for Christians to come together in praise and worship to God.
Rich heritage for Christians
The DULC is seen as a sister church to the Good Shepard Church which has been established for many years now. For DULC, it began in 1976 which means it has been around for about 40 years now.
In those years, Damansara was still a small suburb and not a lot of people. The Tee sisters were involved in establishing the church then. This include having a place to worship with a Sunday School and the youth movement.
A year later, a corner-unit bungalow in the vicinity was bought by the Lutheran Church of Malaysia and Singapore (LCMS). This brought about the Luther House and the Good Shepard churches who sponsored the DULC in terms of management.
Early leaders of DULC
A team of leaders were appointed from Good Shepard to lead DULC and this include pastors Gideon Chang, Yang Tau Tong, Edward Chia, Dr Leong Seng Kee and many others. It was only in 1978 that the DULC was formally setup pastored by Gideon Chang.
It would then grow in numbers and by 1985 became a self-supporting church.
Weekly services by DULC
Each week, DULC operates 2 Sunday Services. This include:
- 30am for Chinese speaking believers
- 00am for English speaking believers
The Holy Communion takes place on the second Sunday of every month while there is a prayer meeting every first Sunday. Cell groups are run in the respective communities as a form of support service for Christians from all walks of life to come together in fellowship and sharing with God.
