http://sports.sohu.com/39/45/news210004539.shtml

http://www.jsyrart.com/News/2007821/olympic/757952825600.html

Bryan Clay Image: ? NBC Olympics / USOCBryan Clay earned a silver medal in the 2004 Olympics and now has his eyes set on winning the gold in Beijing. He has traveled a long way from his troubled and rebellious teen years to become a successful Christian athlete. A true role model, Bryan now provides an opportunity for underprivileged students to change their lives and futures through his scholarship foundation. He credits two things for redirecting his course: his success in sports, which led him to a Christian college, and his acceptance of Jesus Christ and the Christian faith.

Interview with Christian Athlete Bryan Clay
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
I first became a Christian when I was little, however, I did not have a real relationship with Christ until I was in college. That is where I understood what it meant to be a Christian and to walk in a personal relationship with Christ.
Do you attend church?
Yes! We (Bryan is married and has two children) attend a great church that we love here in Southern California.
Do you read the Bible regularly?
I try to. I have to be honest though. There are mornings when I forget, or when business gets in the way. Right now I am going through a devotional book that one of my coaches gave me!
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor?
It is where I draw my strength. Also, in order to do well you need to be balanced spiritually, mentally, emotionally, and physically.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ?
Yes. One way that comes to mind is that a lot of reporters don't want to hear me giving praise to God. There is no drama in that for them. Another way is that potential sponsors may not want to be affiliated with a Christian. In fact, I have been told that if I profess my faith, I probably won't make as much money.
Do you have a favorite Christian author?
Well, I don't know about a favorite, but I am reading John Eldredge's, The Way of the Wild Heart, right now. It has been life-changing for me! It has caused me to do some deep thinking about my past. It also has added to my thoughts of being a father to a boy.
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist?
No favorites right now. I pretty much listen to it all. I do like the song, "Voice Of Truth," by Casting Crowns. That is my theme song for the upcoming year.
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith?
I guess I would say that one of my heroes would be King David. I really enjoy and relate to the story of David and Goliath.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned?
The recent theme in my life has been about balance and order. I have found that if I can keep my priorities in order (God first, family second, etc.), everything falls into place. When in the proper order, I know what to give 1005 to, and what not to waste my time on.

Christian Athlete Profile - Allyson Felix's Faith By Mary Fairchild, About.comAllyson Felix
----------------------------------------------http://christianity.about.com/od/christiancelebrities/qt/allysonfelix.htm
Allyson Felix has already accomplished a lot at a young age. During her teens she was labeled the fastest girl on the planet. As a Christian athlete, she has set some very high goals, such as winning multiple gold medals at the Beijing Summer Olympics. Yet, there's another finish line Allyson has her eyes set on in this life, and therefore, becoming more Christ-like is a daily goal. Growing up in a strong Christian home with a pastor as a father, Allyson is not afraid to stand up for her faith, which she says is the most important aspect of her life.

Interview with Christian Athlete Allyson Felix
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
I grew up in a Christian home with amazing parents. My family was very involved in our church and they made sure I had a strong upbringing that was centered on God. I became a Christian at a very young age, around 6 years old. My knowledge about God grew as I did and my walk with God eventually became much stronger as I got older.
Do you attend church? Yes, I attend church every Sunday that I am at home. When I travel I take sermons from various pastors to listen to while I'm on the road.
Do you read the Bible regularly? Yes, I go through different Bible studies so that I am constantly challenging myself to grow in my relationship with God.
Do you have a life verse from the Bible? I have a lot of different verses that inspire my life. Philippians 1:21 is very special to me because it helps to keep my life centered. In every situation in my life I want to be able to say, "For me to live is Christ ... and nothing else, and to die is gain." It really keeps life in perspective for me and encourages me to make sure my priorities are straight.
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor?
My faith inspires me so much. It is the very reason that I run. I feel that my running is completely a gift from God and it is my responsibility to use it to glorify him. My faith also helps me not be consumed with winning, but to see the big picture and what life is really all about.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ?
I have not experienced any great persecution for my faith. Some people find it hard to understand, but I have been very blessed that I haven't encountered great challenges so far.
Do you have a favorite Christian author? I really enjoy Cynthia Heald's books. I have done a number of her Bible studies and read her books and I find them very practical and beneficial.
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist?
I have a lot of Christian artists that I enjoy listening to. Some of my favorites are Kirk Franklin, Mary Mary and Donnie McClurkin. Their music is so "relatable" and inspiring.
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith?
Without a doubt, my parents. They are just amazing individuals. I could not ask for better role models in my life. I admire them so much because they are real people yet they live such godly lives. They have countless responsibilities and hectic schedules, but they know what their life is all about, and they have a passion for sharing their faith and making a difference in our community.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned? The most important lesson that I have learned is to trust God in every circumstance. Lots of times we go through different trials and following God's plan seems like it doesn't make any sense at all. God is always in control and he will never leave us. We can depend on him. So I have learned that I never know best and that I should always trust in God.
Is there any other message you would like to say to readers?
I would just like to ask for your prayers as I train for Beijing. It would mean so much if you could pray that I am able to share my faith with the world and affect as many people as possible.

Interview with Christian Athlete Diana Lopez
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
As long as I can remember, my mother and father taught us the Christian way. We always prayed before we ate, before we went to sleep, and we always thanked God for all his blessings. We felt that we were blessed and had God to thank.
Do you attend church? I try to attend church regularly every Sunday. There are times with my competitions that I can not attend, but if I am in town, my brothers and I will make it a point to go.
Do you read the Bible regularly? With my hectic schedule - college classes, training and competitions - I struggle to do this on a regular basis. However, once things slow down, I would like to get back into the habit of reading the Bible on a more regular basis.
Do you have a life verse from the Bible?
Joshua 1:9 - "Be strong and courageous. Do not be terrified; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go." It is a verse that helps comfort me and motivate me to do my best.
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor? Faith plays a big role when I am preparing for a competition. I feel that if I live a healthy Christian lifestyle that God will protect me and help me to succeed. I always say a prayer before my brothers or I step onto the mat.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ? Fortunately, in Taekwondo the competitors are very respectful and understanding. I have never had an issue.
Do you have a favorite Christian author?
Robert Morris because of his generosity and his belief to give of yourself.
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist?
Michael W. Smith. It is very pleasant music to unwind to.
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith?
My mother would be my personal hero of faith. She has instilled in us the value of Christianity at an early age. She sets an excellent example in the way she lives her life and is someone I try to model my own life after. My mother is the most giving and generous person I have ever met.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned?
Many times in my career I have faced times that were really difficult, whether it was an injury or a very difficult loss. It would have been easy to have given up right then and there. However, through the strength of God and the support of my family, I never let it keep me down. I always strive to be the best at what I do, and it finally paid off with a trip to the 2008 Olympics.
Is there any other message you would like to say to readers?
We all face some challenges in life that seem insurmountable, and times when we think nothing can go right. It might be in your career, a relationship, or life in general. It is important to stay the course. And sometimes it involves putting in a little extra time and effort to right the ship. Keep praying and believing that your faith will help carry you through this difficult patch, and you will succeed. For me it was to go to the Olympics. I had several setbacks along the way, but in the end I accomplished my goal. I stayed positive! Now I am going to Beijing and living my dream.

Interview with Christian Athlete Sanya Richards
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
I became a Christian when I was 12 years old. It was when I moved to Florida and started going to church consistently. Prior to moving to the States, I wasn't exposed to Christianity much. But as soon as I got involved, I gave my life to Christ.
Do you attend church? I go to church every Sunday that I am not traveling or competing.
Do you read the Bible regularly? I try to read the Bible as much as I can. Recently my sister, my best friend, my cousin, and I committed ourselves to reading through the entire Bible, and we've tried to read together every Wednesday.
Do you have a life verse from the Bible? There are so many meaningful verses to me in the BIble, but I guess the one I say to myself most often is, "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me!" That's my favorite because on the track, I am usually trying to do things that have rarely been done before. I know that it's only God that gives me the strength to accomplish these things.
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor?
My faith keeps me grounded. People always ask me how come I'm so good, and even though I try never to overwhelm people with my faith, I always think to myself, how come God is so good. My faith also encourages me to give my best. I know that my talent is God's gift to me, and how I use it is my gift to him.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ?
I am rarely persecuted for my faith. Most of the people I associate with are Christians or know how strong my faith is. I have had experiences where I had to explain what it means to be a Christian to friends that aren't Christians, but I enjoy those opportunities and only hope to be an example for them.
Do you have a favorite Christian author? I enjoy reading and watching Joel Osteen. I think he is an amazing man, and a great example of what living a life according to Christ should look like. He's also very positive and inspirational and his messages always meet you right where you are.
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist?
I love Kirk Franklin and Yolanda Adams. I like Kirk Franklin because he is able to make his music contemporary and meaningful. His messages are poignant and relevant and I thoroughly enjoy it. I enjoy Yolanda Adams because her voice is heavenly and her music is inspirational. She mostly speaks about making it through and believing in yourself. She's an amazing artist.
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith?
My personal hero in faith is my Aunt Maureen. She was the one that really got me involved in the church and over the years, she has been a great example of what a Christian woman looks like. She recently lost a son, and the strength she exuded only comes from God. She's an incredible lady and a true hero.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned?
I've learned that God is always on time! Sometimes things happen that we can't understand, and we think that God has forgotten about us, but that is never true. We must go through different seasons to truly appreciate when God is working everything out for us. In the meantime, we must thank God in all things!
Is there any other message you would like to say to readers?
Continue believing and trusting in Christ. He will never leave or forsake you!

Interview with Christian Athlete Donny Robinson
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
I believe it was in 2001 at 18 years old, when I finally decided I needed to be baptized as a Christian.
I was surrounded by the Christian lifestyle since I was a teenager, not so much from my family, but both by my dance teacher (yes, I took dance too) and by my BMX team manager. This meant that while I was at home and traveling to races, I could see how true Christians lived their lives, and they influenced me so much. It was good though, because I made up my mind about accepting Jesus on my own (although it took 6 years). It was something I came to realize I didn't want to wait on anymore.
I still remember the moment when I knew I wanted to live my life for Jesus as much as I could; it was during a plane flight. I am really scared of flying, even though I have to fly many times a month. I have certain CDs that I listen to, to help calm me down when there is turbulence. I was listening to a Keith Green song called "YOU!" There is a line in the song that says, "Don't wait too long to decide." Now, I had been listening to that song for years, and knew exactly what that line was referring to, and that particular flight did it for me. I told myself that I was getting baptized when I arrived home, which I did.
Do you attend church? To say that I go to church every Sunday would be a lie. I'm not perfect, and most of the time I find my traveling or racing, or even rest, becoming more of a priority. I enjoy singing and worshiping, and love going to Bible study, so I try to devote at least one day a week to gather with others at First Christian Church in Napa, CA. It seems like most of the time I worship in my own way, listening to WOW Worship CDs on the plane.
Do you read the Bible regularly? I'm really trying to go back through the Bible as much as I can and delve deeper into what the passages are actually saying. Thanks to Pastor Jermaine for that!
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor? I know that God has a purpose for my life, and he has blessed me with this talent to be a BMX racer for a reason. Entertainers and athletes have more power over today's youth than any political leader or the like could have. So, I know I need to use my talents to spread his Gospel, and that drives me to be successful, so I can make an impact.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ? There have been many times when I've been looked down upon, for my reasons why I don't act a certain way or participate in certain activities, or even why I thank Jesus for things. But, it's not as bad now as it was in the past. Most people I'm around know that I try to live the most Christ-like life I can, and they accept what I represent. I know that if I'm able to compete in the Olympics, there will be much harder times when I'll have pressure to stand my ground for what I believe in. The cost will be worth it though.
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist? I have been listening to Keith Green CDs for 12 years, so he is definitely on the top. Any artists that compose great songs are favorites to me: John Waller, Casting Crowns, and pretty much all the artists on K-LOVE radio ...
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith? I have always been the smallest rider in all of my classes, so everyone has said I'm the David in the BMX world of Goliaths, so definitely, David is a hero for the faith he had. Also, my dance teacher, Sara Kirkland, my team manager, Erick "Big E" Bartoldus, and a fellow BMX competitor, Randy Stumpfhauser. These people have led me to Christ and shown me how true Christ-followers live. I thank them for inspiring me to be a better person.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned? It's hard for me to speak of my faith because, truthfully, I know I fall way short of what Christ wants from me. I don't think I should be proclaiming anything, when I see some of the things I do sometimes. I know God's mercy renews me every day. He wants us to shine for him, and we want that too.
Is there any other message you would like to say to readers?
I know that we can overcome everything through him, and be a light for others. Thanks to everyone for reading, and I hope in some way I can be an inspiration in how I live my life!

Interview with Christian Athlete Laura Wilkinson
Briefly explain how and when you became a Christian:
I accepted Jesus as my Savior when I was 8 years old. In high school and the beginning of college I wandered away from God, but I recommitted my life to Christ in 1998 in the middle of a diving competition.
Do you attend church? My husband and I go to Champion Forest Baptist Church. We attend every Sunday and my husband teaches a young married couples Sunday school class. We also have a small group Bible study that meets 2-3 times a month.
Do you read the Bible regularly? I like to study the Bible and dig deep, but consistency is where I struggle the most. I often have trouble getting in my daily reading. It's great when my husband and I can read together because it keeps me accountable and we can have great discussions about God together.
Do you have a life verse from the Bible? There are quite a few, but my favorite is Philippians 4:13, "I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." It's just awesome to know that when you trust God to be your strength, you can face anything the world throws at you.
How does your faith influence you as an athletic competitor?
I feel like I can face any situation. Sometimes I come out victorious, sometimes I am defeated. But I know that God has plans for my life and I trust Him. My value and his plans for me do not lie in my score at the end of the meet. He uses both wonderful and difficult moments to mold me into the person he wants me to be.
Do you ever face difficult challenges because of your stand for Christ?
I have had some interviews cut short and some insults here and there. But my husband and family are strong Christians and have a great support group.
Do you have a favorite Christian author?
I like Ted Dekker and Randy Alcorn. I love fiction and adventure stories, and they are terrific!
Do you have a favorite Christian music artist?
Jeremy Camp is one of my favorites, but my bias lies with Natalie Grant and Ayiesha Woods! I was very blessed to be a speaker on the Revolve Tour with Natalie Grant for the last 3 years and with Ayiesha this past fall. They are absolutely amazing singers, but they are more amazing friends and Christians!
Who would you name as a personal hero of the faith?
My husband. I had the honor of being present when my husband gave his life to Christ, and I have had the privilege to see his passion for God and to watch him grow quickly in his faith, and he is now teaching others.
What is the most important life-lesson you have learned?
I have learned to thank God even in the midst of difficulties. I know he will use the situation to grow me, and while I can't usually see how he'll do it in those dark moments, I trust him and I know I will see it later on.
Is there any other message you would like to say to readers?
There is nothing more important than our relationship with God. It's not about showing up to church on Sunday, it's about seeking him every day. Relationships are built by communication and over time.

Dieudonne Disi is a world-class marathoner with a personal best of 59 minutes. Disi grew up in war-torn Rwanda, witnessed the killing of his entire family and still went on to compete in the Olympics in 2004 and plans to run in Beijing.
“When I was growing up there was no television but I followed the1996 Olympics in Atlanta on the radio. I thought it was amazing that a Rwandan was able to finish 8th in the world in the 10,000 meters. It was only in the year 2000 that I realized I was good at running. So I decided to try to exploit and maximize my talent.
In 2004 I took part in the Olympic Games in Athens. I was not expecting to win a medal. Just getting to the Olympics was a big achievement in itself. Because of my lack of experience 17th was the best I could achieve in the Olympic final.”
The following year Disi represented his country in the Francophone Games and took gold in the 10,000 meters and bronze in the 5,000. To understand the magnitude of Disi’s achievement it is necessary to consider the events of 1994 when Rwanda was devastated by genocide.
“On my last day with my father, there were 8 people in the house – my mother, my brothers and sisters. My father said we were all going to die. He said that he wanted the whole family to pray and prepare to go to heaven. My family started to pray but I went outside. When the others started to pray I went out. I heard the rebels knock on the door, it opened. They said something to my family. I understood that it was over. It was death.
They said, “Come out”. My family came out. They were killing my mother.
I was still alive. After the death of my family I don’t remember much but in the end everyone within 400 meters was dead.
I have never forgotten that my father asked me to pray in preparation for heaven. I used to pray every day with my family but when my family died I stopped praying. For 5 years I did not pray. .
A few years later I was asking myself why my family who had prayed were all now dead. Where are they now?
But I had confidence that my family and friends who perished were in heaven. I realized that if I was ever going to see my family again, I needed to start praying again. The way to see my family again was through prayer.
In the Bible it says that there is only one way to heaven - Jesus Christ. If you are to get to heaven, it can only be through Jesus Christ. For me Jesus Christ is the way to heaven and the way to God.”

Julian Bolling is the only Sri Lankan swimmer known to have participated in three Olympic games, first at Los Angeles (USA) in 1984, then at Seoul (South Korea) in 1988, and finally at Barcelona (Spain) in 1992. He also won 15 (fifteen) Gold Medals. This happened over a decade ago for Sri Lanka, at four separate SAF Games - in 1984, 1987, 1989 and 1991.
Julian first swam for Royal College, Colombo from 1977 to 1982 and was coached by E. G. A. Wilson, a famous national record holder in the 100 meters Back Stroke. From 1982, his mother, Tara Bolling, (Sri Lanka's 'Wonder Star' and women's champion of the fifties and early sixties, who represented Sri Lanka at the Commonwealth Games held in Cardiff (Wales) in 1958), took over the solemn task of disciplining and training her son to become a 'golden swimmer'. Julian was taught to put God first, others second and himself last, in everything.
Julian also recalls 1979 as a memorable year, when he and his two elder brothers David and Jeremy, represented Sri Lanka for the first time in the Indo-Sri Lanka- Bangladesh Swimming Triangular Meet. In fact, David Bolling won the Gold Medal in the 1500 meters Free-Style and Julian came in second, to win the Silver Medal. Thereafter, Julian took over these events and represented the country in the 1986 Asian Games, winning many Gold Medals and establishing Games Records in the 400 and 1500 meters Free style and Individual Medley.
Since obtaining a Marketing Degree from the University of Clarion, Pennsylvania (USA), Julian returned to Sri Lanka in 1992 and worked at Nestles' Limited, Colombo - but soon preferred to abandon an office desk and 'take to the waters', to join his mother Tara and father Ralph, who had launched out the Rainbow Aquatic Club.
Later, the Rainbow Swimming Academy was set-up with his brother David, with the sole aim of teaching children and adults to swim and save 'souls' from drowning! They have also coached with great success, many who desired to compete in local and foreign swimming meets.
After the shattering tsunami in December 2004, a retired British army officer Tony Ballard and his concerned wife Petronella, set out to the Southern fishing villages that had been ravaged by the swirling waters, to provide them with essential supplies.
However they were soon made to realize that most people including children could not swim. They immediately needed the services of a competent coach who could teach people the basics of swimming. Julian Bolling was contacted and despite his other heavy commitments in Colombo, he had no hesitation in helping out.
Tony and Petronella were virtually 'blown off their feet' when they asked "When do we start?" and Julian replied "Today!" - Together they worked out a programme, now named 'Swim-Lanka' (www.swimlanka.lk), which has 32 local Instructors working with 26 'wading pools' in various coastal communities.
As petronella said, "We've all seen the tears, the horror, the immense pain." Yes, Julian Bolling has been a vital link and played an important part in putting love, smiles and happiness back into these peoples' lives - and using 'Swim-Lanka' to give them a future, when life seemed bleak and frightful.
With the 10th - South Asian Games being staged in Colombo from 18th to 28th August, at the Sugathadasa Stadium, Julian has been called to assist in the planning and preparations of the 'swim scene' and he has 'dived' right into it, to give the best of his time, knowledge, experience and ability for the country and for his best-loved sport - swimming!!! Deshabandu Julian will always be a 'golden legend' in the history of Sri Lanka sports.
Reflecting on his experience at the Olympics, Julian says, “The 84’ Olympics was the first of the 3 Olympics I went to, but the nice thing was we never planned on it, and it suddenly came. It was a lot of pride involved because you are at the Olympics, there is only a few thousand athletes from around the world that gather so you do feel special, but also on a lighter note, I was like a little fish in a big pond. We can talk about achievements in terms of success but I think the nicest thing is the Olympic motto says that the struggle is more important than the victory and I sure did struggle through my career, but today as a swimming coach I can see the reason why I went through what I went through, so that I can relate to kids if they do or are in a similar situation I can sort of empathize with them.
We as athletes do struggle like anyone else, even though we have Jesus in our lives I think we are not perfect we have our struggles, sometimes we falter. But the key is to look to Jesus and not to us because I think He is perfect, He will lead you, but also learn that you don’t have to be perfect to have a relationship with God.
There is a thing called eternal life and we cannot achieve it on our own. We need God’s help and God has given that answer through his son Jesus. He died for us so that we can have eternal life. To me it is not simply trying to do good but to accept the good deed done by Jesus and accept him into your life and from there on it is home.

“Badminton is the only sport in which Indonesia has ever won a gold medal in the Olympics. That is why badminton is prestigious and important for Indonesia.
My greatest moment was when I became Olympic champion in Sydney. In the Olympics, you play for yourself but also as a representative for your country at the highest level as the Olympics is the biggest sporting event in the world. It was such an overwhelming experience. The hard times, the long wait, the pressures and the challenges ... they all disappeared at the Olympics.
To be a champion means I have to be different than others. The commitment demanded by being a champion is different from the experience of ordinary people.
Being famous and respected is great but what is more beautiful is walking with God, knowing that God loves me and being His... It is the most important thing for me.
http://www.struggleandtriumph.com/players/hendrawan.aspx
Hendrawan won the silver medal in men's singles at the 2000 Summer Olympics and the gold medal at the 2001 IBF World Championships.
His wife Sylvia Angreni was also a former national women's singles player. It was clearly evident that badminton brought them together as Hendrawan first met Sylvia in a junior tournament in East Jawa at the age of 14 and it was love at first sight. However, Hendrawan said they lost touch after that but fate reunited them when both made the national team six years later. "It was a surprise when I met her again in the national team. I think this is what we called destiny and obviously this is because of our fondness in badminton," recalls Hendrawan.
"Being in the same field, Sylvia was very understanding and gave me the encouragement throughout my career.”I'm really lucky for God has presented me with a great career, a loving wife and beautiful wife. I'm still involved in the sport I cherish most and there is nothing more I need in life."
Hendrawan also explained that his early life was a difficult one as his father was a small trader in a local market in Malang and things started getting better when he moved Jakarta to join Tangkas badminton club where he trained under Fang Kaixiang, who later became the Malaysian coach.
A year later, he was drafted into the national team where he had the luxury of training under Chinese coach Tang Hsienfu, regarded s the best singles coach in the history of the game, and continued his progress. Hendrawan was in an era where Indonesia was the dominant force in the men's singles and Hendrawan had to wait for his time shine.
After his triple victories, Hendrawan's major break came in the 2000 Sydney Olympics where he won a silver medal and rates the achievement as one his finest.
Hendrawan retired in 2003 but never left the game unlike his more famous teammates, as he joined the national team as a coach. Despite being closely linked with badminton, Hendrawan wants to give his children Josephine and Alexander a free hand in deciding their future. However, Hendrawan will be the happiest if they choose to become badminton players and try to emulate the success he and his wife have achieved.
“I just want to be remembered as a humble, nice and ordinary person. Not as a World Champion or Olympic Champion. I want to be remembered as a person who does not turn away from God’s commandments. I just want to follow God’s way.
I believe that career and fame will end some day. Just like an old river my popularity will automatically dry up. Jesus taught that there are more important things in this life, that there is eternal life. That is what I was looking for – not fame as a badminton player or popularity. Because I know Jesus Christ I am certain that I have found eternal life.”

“My brother ran track in high school and I’ve always kind of followed after my brother and just wanted to be just like him. So he really got me into track and field and I kind of only came out because he did and after that I fell in love with it and was really passionate about it. I thrive off competition. I love competing against the best women in the world, just knowing that that’s what I wanted to do really kept me motivated.
I had a great experience in Athens. It was amazing. I’ll never forget it. I just remember going into the opening ceremony and just remember how many people were there and all the different countries and I think I’ve learned just so much from it and I’ll never forget it.
My race in Athens went pretty much like any other race. My start wasn’t that great getting out and I think that’s where I lost a little bit of a time and then I came on pretty strong but it wasn’t quite enough to make up the difference. I think as soon as I finished the race, I wasn’t sure how to take getting the silver. I think when you go into any race you go into it wanting to win. So it was definitely a little bit of a letdown but then my family quickly put me into perspective and I realize what I had accomplished so it was definitely a success.
The disappointment that I face is pretty much injuries and my faith really plays a part in that because I’m able to look at the bigger picture and know that God has a plan for my life and this is also a part of it.
I can’t imagine my life without knowing Jesus. I can’t imagine just waking up and going through my life without him so you know he is my life and that’s what I live for.”
Felix sees her running ability as a gift from God, "My faith is the reason I run - it calms my heart and makes everything feel like a lift. My speed is definitely a gift from Him, and I run for His glory. Whatever I do, He allows me to do it."
She has an extra edge on handling the pressure. “I pray a lot,” Felix says. “I always make time to spend in the Word, just talking to God. My speed is a gift from God, and I run for his glory. Whatever I do, it all comes from him.”
“To me, the Gospel message is Jesus being our saviour and dying on the cross for us and we don’t have to be lost, that we can come to him and he can save us and we can follow him and have a purpose in life.”

Catherine Ndereba, 35, is one of the best female marathoners in history. A former world record-holder at the distance (2:18:47 at the 2001 La Salle Bank Chicago Marathon), Ndereba won the Olympic silver medal at the 2004 Olympics in Athens. In addition to these Herculean feats, she is a four-time winner of the Boston Marathon (the first and only woman to hold this distinction) and a two-time winner of the LaSalle Bank Chicago Marathon (2000 and 2001). She is remarkably consistent, having run 12 sub-2:26 performances and three sub-2:20s in her career. Runner’s World ranked her the #1 Runner of the Year for five years.
“I started running when I was in 5th grade. Not until I finished high school did I get a coach and found that I had a lot of potential.
The Olympic Championships....are the most important, because they only come after every 4 years, it’s not like the world championships and once you win a medal in the Olympics it seems like people keep remembering. It’s not like any other Championships. When I got to the Olympics for sure I wasn’t 100 percent. Once we started the race I just took it very easy hoping that my body would keep on catching up and loosening up. So once I started seeing people breaking from 25th kilometer I got kind of scared, but I said well I am sure that God is with me and He is going to carry me, when my legs will not carry me, He is able to carry me.
When I run I normally feel great and remember how God has blessed me so much. he gives me the talent of which He doesn’t charge me anything, you know, it is just a free-will gift you know? And I can just use it the way I want just for His glory.
My biggest disappointment in my running career is when I didn’t make the team for the Olympics year 2000. I did cope with that disappointment... It was so painful but all I said was if this is not God’s will for me to be there, well I just wait and ask God to give me the grace and the patience to just wait upon Him because when it comes and it is His time, I am sure everything will work so well.
What I know is that I never wrestle with God. Because I know, very well, that my running is a gift from God. He gave it to me with a purpose. He gave it do me so that I can go inside Him with it. Whenever I run and win, it is not me who is winning, it is the Christ in me because there is nothing, absolutely nothing, that I’m able to do without Him. I get that from the book of Philippians, chapter 4, verse 13, that says that I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. And in the book of Deuteronomy where it says that the Lord will make you the head and not the tail. So I believe in God, in He who has saved us. He is very faithful to keep his word and the Bible tells me that.”
“Jesus died because of my sins, because He loves me so much and He wouldn’t like me to die or have eternal destruction so that is why He offered Jesus to die on the cross on my behalf, so that I may live with Him.”

Allyson Felix is a 2-time World Outdoor 200m champion ('05, '07); 2007 World Outdoor 4x100m and 4x400m gold medalist; 3-time USA Outdoor 200m champion (’04, ’05, '07); 2004 Olympic 200m silver medalist; World Junior record holder; 2004 USA junior champion; 2003 USA Indoor champion; 2003 Pan American Games bronze medalist; Five-time California state prep champion (three-time 100m, two-time 200m); 2001 World Youth 100m gold medalist.

主的爱比天还高,似海洋深难以忘怀;

主你是陶匠,我是泥土;
我的心渴慕你,如鹿渴慕溪水;

你若不炼哪达成膏,它就不流芬芳;
能有什么比你更好?比你喜悦可宝;

因为不听不听不听神的话;
Fine
耶稣能够体会你的心情;
我不安的脚步,终于可以停歇;
恳求我主,光照监察我心;
I Want to be free
I Want to be free,
Because I believe that heaven is here

主的爱比天还高,似海洋深难以忘怀;

主你是陶匠,我是泥土;
我的心渴慕你,如鹿渴慕溪水;

你若不炼哪达成膏,它就不流芬芳;
能有什么比你更好?比你喜悦可宝;

因为不听不听不听神的话;
Fine
耶稣能够体会你的心情;
我不安的脚步,终于可以停歇;
恳求我主,光照监察我心;
I Want to be free
I Want to be free,
Because I believe that heaven is here
